Schwarzenegger Jokes at Commencement Address about Arizona: "I Was Worried They Going to Deport Me" - Video 5/10/10

Here is video of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in a commencement address at Emory University, where he took a shot at Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law.

Schwarzenegger said he was going to give a graduation address in Arizona, "but with my accent, I was worried they going to deport me back to Austria. So I canceled that idea right away."

I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. All of us ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated, but this is not the case.

I know the proponents of this law say that the majority approves of this law, but the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO!

Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. In a time of domestic crisis men of good will and generosity should be able to unite regardless of party or politics and do what is right, not what is just popular with the majority. Some men comprehend discrimination by never have experiencing it in their lives, but the majority will only understand after it happens to them.

Benito, I read your post three times and still don't quite understand why you think illegal immigrants have rights here in the United States. I can see your trying to make this a racial discrimination issue when it clearly isn’t and doesn’t have anything to do with race, gender or national origin. Your a very confused liberal who doesn’t know the history of this country nor do you understand the basic principals this country was founded on and you surely don't understand our laws. This is a major problem with foreigners coming into the US and bypassing the immigration process.

When you go through the US immigration process to come into our country legally you are required to speak English and have at least a basic knowledge of our American history. You then are required to swear allegiance to this country and its laws while you denounce allegiance to the country you came from. That's the whole point of coming here because you want to leave your country to be part of ours but this isn't the case with the illegals. They come here to leach off our financial system and our society with total disregard for our laws and the American citizens who live here.

How can you show any allegiance to a country when you can't even obey its most basic law of immigration?

People who are here illegally don’t have rights under our laws or our constitution to stay in this country or to benefit from any of the systems we have in place for our citizens period. Just because someone crosses the border into our country does not give them the right to be here and if caught they should be deported back to their home country immediately.

Let me ask you a question Benito, what would happen if I crossed the border with my family into Mexico? How would your government and police meet me in the street? Will they take me into your courts and give me the full benefit of your Mexican citizen laws? I think not.

If I went into your country illegally:

1.Will I get free medical care for myself and my entire family?

2.Will they supply me with English speaking government bureaucrats?

3.Will your Mexican Government supply all my forms in English?

4.Will my kids be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers?

5.Will the schools include classes on American culture and history?

6.Can my kids see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school?

7.Will they feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch?

8.What if I plan to get a car and drive in Mexico? I don't plan to purchase car insurance and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws. Will this be ok?

9.In case the Mexican police don't speak English will they make sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer?

10.I plan to fly the U.S. flag in my front yard, put U S. flag decals on my car and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. Will this be ok?

I also dont want any complaints or negative comments from the locals and I will expect your police, lawyers, government and legal system to fully stand up for my rights.

11.I would also like to have a good job without paying any taxes or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

12.Will your president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family or about the strain we might place on their economy?

13.Will I receive free food stamps?

14.Will I get free rent subsidies?

15.Will I get income tax credits so that although I don't pay Mexican taxes I'll receive money from the government?

16.Will the Mexican Government pay me $4,500.00 to help me buy a new car?

17.Will they enroll me into the Mexican Social Security program for free so that I'll get a monthly income at retirement?

18.Would your government allow hundreds of thousands of illegal Americans (or illegal immigrants in general) to rally in protest in the streets for their just Mexican rights?

“All Men are created equal”! The founders had it right, when attempting to form a perfect union and they also knew that they were not there yet but knew we one day would get there. Lincoln moved us forward as did JFK and LBJ. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.

It is my contention that this AZ law is not constitutional and will fail when challenged (unless, of course, they keep adding more amendments), pretty funny for this so called perfect law.

As for the undocumented workers, as Ronald Reagan said “It’s the Economy, Stupid”. When the economy is good we say let’s all celebrate “Cinco de Mayo, my brothers” but when we are in a down “it’s all your fault, you damn immigrant”. This too will pass. The real problem is the narcosis/drug and people smuggler that’s what the focus should be on.

Don’t you find it funny that no one ever voted for Governor Brewer, it’s all about politics, do not be fooled. Busy Brewer has passed S.B. 1070, no permit conceal weapons law, the famous Birthers law and if history is a lesson their House Bill 2779 from two years ago (which failed when challenged) and the one that was the funniest the boycott of Martin Luther King Day, not wanting another holiday. I believe there is an undercurrent to their enactment of new laws, they real love following a distinct pattern.
