Here is video of Democrat Sen. Patrick Leahy saying the September 11 attack "could have been avoided if everyone had done what they should have."
Leahy made the statement as part of an attack on Rush Limbaugh for saying he hoped "Obama would fail." Leahy said "this really bothers me," because he tried to claim Democrats came together around President George W. Bush even though "9/11 could have been avoided."
Well, yes - it could possibly have been avoided if Democrats and Bill Clinton had seen all the warning signs in the 1990's and treated Islamic Jihadists as a mortal threat to the nation instead of approaching them as criminals who knocked over a convenience store. From the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, to the attacks on U.S. embassies in Africa, to the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, the situation cried out for strong action by the Clinton Administration that was already in place and operating.
Instead of admitting that reality, Leahy and others want to blame George W. Bush who had been in office less than a year, and was not President when any of the previous attacks had taken place. Their hatred of George W. Bush is unhinged from reality.
