Marc Thiessen on Hannity Provides Powerful Defense of "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques" - Video 1/22/10
Here is video of former President George W. Bush Speech Writer Marc Thiessen, author of "Courting Disaster," on with Sean Hannity last night where he provided a powerful defense of "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques," which he said adamantly does not constitute "torture."
Thiessen recently confronted CNN's Christiane Amanpour about her attacks on the U.S. for "torture." A clip of his confrontation with her is played in this video prior to the interview with him.
Thiessen documents some of the intelligence that was obtained through the cooperation of terrorist detainees after the use of "Enhanced Interrogation," including multiple terror attacks that were thwarted with the intelligence obtained.
He says the Obama Administration has chosen to put the nation at risk by not seeking to obtain vital intelligence from Terrorist Detainees such as Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who is part of the new terror network - Al Qaeda Arabian Peninsula. Rather than seek to obtain vital intelligence from him, the Obama Administration has taken steps to let him "lawyer up" and will try him as a common criminal. Who knows what vital intelligence he may have that could prevent future attacks.
Near the end of the interview, Thiessen said that one of the interrogators was told by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed that if he ever got out of there "I'm going to slit your throat and kill your family." Thiessen said these interrogators are not "torturers"; they are "heroes trying to stop the next 9/11 and they are vilified."
This is an outstanding interview, and Thiessen is absolutely right.
