Here is graphic raw video showing the devastation in Haiti caused by a powerful 7.0 Earthquake that struck the country today, centered near the capital city of Port-Au-Prince. The video shows the catastrophic results to buildings and life.
At around the 1:20 mark of the video, you see the Presidential Palace which suffered major damage. We are undoubtedly only beginning to see the proportions of this disaster in the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.

May God have mercy on these poor souls. May the USA have the will to send help, now.
Why is it always up to the United States to "send help"? Where are the other so-called industrialized nations of the world?
The whole world hates us until they need our help or money.:/
Sadly, it is true that the world hates us until they need us.
let them die..they are nothing to us
Unfortunately, we don't have any money anymore....remember? But I'm sure we'll give it away anyway.
I'm curious as to how many countries gave us aid after 9/11 or Katrina?
Every human being has value and worth. The people of Haiti do mean something to us. If we can turn away from suffering on that scale so close to our shores, then we have ceased to be the nation we used to be. That won't happen. As always, America will live up to her values and principles.
Even though some of the people in the video would hack me up with a machete just for walking down the street, I would send money to a Christian NGO that currently has boots on the ground, if I had any to give after paying taxes to a government that will waste money through ten thousand layers of adminsitration to deliver a single band-aid mortgaged with money borrowed in my great granchildren's name.
Sorry Haiti, I'm tapped out and preparing for our own forthcoming social/economic earthquake.
God help all of us.
I agree that most of the time, the best place to give to help in these situations is through a Christian denomination that already has missionaries on the ground and know how to help the people. That's an almost sure way to know that most of what you give won't go for overhead and will get to the people.
