Chris Matthews Says He Does Not Think Obama "Made the Case" for his Afghanistan Strategy - Video 12/1/09

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Here is video of Chris Matthews tonight saying he does not think President Obama "made the case" tonight for his strategy in Afghanistan. He said Obama's speech "lacked the lift of a driving dream," and that it "had a ministerial quality" to it.

Matthews said he failed to bring to his speech a sense that we are going after a "clear-cut enemy." Matthews argued that Al-Qaeda is our real enemy and they are in Pakistan. So, according to him, fighting the Taliban is an indirect way of getting at Al-Qaeda.

Matthews refuses to see that the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are the same enemy. They all follow the radical Islamic ideology that is behind the terrorists who want to destroy the United States. The Taliban is our enemy, as is Al-Qaeda, and all who subscribe to that core ideology.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews Refers to West Point Cadets as "Enemy Camp" for Obama's Speech - Video 12/1/09

Here is video of MSNBC's Chris Matthews referring to the assembled cadets at West Point to hear President Obama's speech on Afghanistan as the "enemy camp." Incredibly, Matthews was critical of the fact the cadets were not supportive enough of Obama during his speech, saying he saw "if not resentment, skepticism."

Matthews has made some really bizarre statements over the years, but this is one of the worst, to call America's future military leaders the "enemy camp."

Reports Say Obama to Announce the U.S. will "Conclude the War" in Afghanistan in Three Years

CNN reports that President Obama will announce tonight he is sending 30,000 reinforcements to Afghanistan, but will also announce the United States will "conclude the war" and withdraw most of our troops from Afghanistan in three years:

President Obama is sending 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan but plans to conclude the war and withdraw most U.S. service members within three years, senior administration officials told CNN Tuesday.

The president is ordering military officials to get the reinforcements to Afghanistan within six months, White House officials said.

Obama will travel to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, later Tuesday to officially announce his plans. It would be his second escalation of U.S. forces in the war-torn Islamic country since he came to power in January.

The president also is seeking further troop commitments from NATO allies as part of a counterinsurgency strategy aimed at wiping out al Qaeda elements and stabilizing the country while training Afghan forces.

The expected new troop deployment would increase the total U.S. commitment to roughly 100,000 troops in Afghanistan, bolstered by about 45,000 NATO forces. . . . . . . . MORE

If this report turns out to be accurate, the Taliban and their Al-Qaeda allies are going to be told tonight how long they need to hold out before they can retake control of Afghanistan. This is a stunning decision by Obama to announce a date certain to end the war, which is nothing more than an attempt to pacify his Left-Wing base in the Democrat Party.

Robert Gibbs Says Dick Cheney Unqualified to Give Opinion on Afghanistan - Video 12/1/09

Here is video of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs this morning saying he does not know what would qualify former Vice-President Dick Cheney to render an opinion on Afghanistan.

Gibbs was responding to remarks by Cheney in an interview Cheney did with Politico. Here are some highlights:

In a 90-minute interview at his suburban Washington house, Cheney said the president’s “agonizing” about Afghanistan strategy “has consequences for your forces in the field.”

“I begin to get nervous when I see the commander in chief making decisions apparently for what I would describe as small ‘p’ political reasons, where he’s trying to balance off different competing groups in society,” Cheney said.

“Every time he delays, defers, debates, changes his position, it begins to raise questions: Is the commander in chief really behind what they’ve been asked to do?” . . . .

Obama will announce a troop buildup in Afghanistan in a speech Tuesday at West Point, and he’s expected to send at least 30,000 more U.S. troops to the country. The White House also has said that Obama will outline a general time frame for the United States to begin withdrawing from Afghanistan.

But Cheney said the average Afghan citizen “sees talk about exit strategies and how soon we can get out, instead of talk about how we win.

“Those folks ... begin to look for ways to accommodate their enemies,” Cheney said. “They’re worried the United States isn’t going to be there much longer and the bad guys are.”

During the interview, Cheney laced his concerns with a broader critique of Obama’s foreign and national security policy, saying Obama’s nuanced and at times cerebral approach projects “weakness” and that the president is looking “far more radical than I expected.”

“Here’s a guy without much experience, who campaigned against much of what we put in place ... and who now travels around the world apologizing,” Cheney said. “I think our adversaries — especially when that’s preceded by a deep bow ... — see that as a sign of weakness.” . . . . . . . . MORE

Keith Olbermann Tells Obama He Must "Declare Victory and Get Out" of Afghanistan - Video 11/30/09

Here is video of MSNBC's Keith Olbermann last night with a "Special Comment" on President Obama's speech to be given tonight on his decision about sending reinforcements to Afghanistan.

Olbermann said it is time for Obama to "declare victory and get out." Olbermann spent over nine minutes warning that if Obama goes forward with continuing, and increasing military action in Afghanistan, it will be another Vietnam for the United States.

Olbermann displays the philosophy of the Left, which is always ready to give up and quit before the job is done. It is clear they did not really believe their own candidate during the 2008 campaign when Obama repeatedly called Afghanistan the "Necessary War."

If Obama listens to his commanders on the ground, he is going to get hammered from the Left, as illustrated by Olbermann. What he is likely to do is to send 30,000-35,000 reinforcements but somehow convey they won't be there very long. That will be a bone to the Left.

Uncovered Video Shows Howard Dean in France Praising Obama for Moving America Closer to "European Model" - Video

Here is a new expose video by Naked Emperor News that shows former Democrat National Committee Chairman Howard Dean speaking in Paris, France this past April, where he said the debate as to whether we should have Captialism or Socialism "is over." Dean said, "Now we are going to have both." The only debate is on how much we will have of each.

He also praised President Obama as the "JFK of this generation." He said Obama has brought America closer to the "European Model" of the "permanent campaign."
_______________

It is interesting that Democrats take such offense when conservatives say Obama is trying to bring "socialism" to America. Here is the former DNC Chair using the word "socialism" himself to describe what we are moving toward. At least Dean was honest in France, when he obviously thought his words would never be heard by people in America.
