Sen. Whitehouse Says ObamaCare Opponents Are "Birthers, Fanatics, Right-Wing Militias, and Aryan Support Groups" - Video

Here is video of Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse attacking opponents of the Health Care bill during his floor speech.

Sen. Whitehouse attacked Senate GOP members and called their supporters "birthers, fanatics, the people running around in Right-wing militias and Aryan support groups, it is unbearable to them that President Barack Obama should exist."

I feel like I woke up on Jan 20th, 2009 living in a different country.

It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with policy, freedom, patriotism, and rule of law.

It's amazing to me that the Democrats feel so emboldened as to tell over half of Amercia what they(democrats) have actually long believed and how they are using their majority to impose their socialist ideals on those too ignorant or apathetic to even care.

These words are not pure rhetoric by a sycophantic "progressive" during a politcal joust while attending a DC cocktail party. These words were spoken by a US SENATOR!

I am truly shocked and I am going to work even harder to defeat ANY democrat during the 2010 and 2012 elections.

No wonder they want to shut down the internet. It exposes these fools for the idiots they are.
Who knew about this Bozo before now. Is the entire state of RI on crack cocaine?

Nice clip. Totally taken out of context, but nice clip.

If you listened to what PRECEDED this clip, you'd know that the Senator was talking about how rightwingers were dead set to "break" Obama from Day One.

People EXACTLY like "Nelsa". People who don't allow for any diversity of opinion in "their" country.

Those people -- the ones who simply want to "break" Obama -- have a built-in base of support, said the Senator. And he went on to name that solid starting point for the "Break Obama" gang: the skinheads, the white militias, the birthers, the teabaggers.

The Senator never said or implied that EVERYONE who opposes Obama does so because of crazy racist motivations. But if rightwingnuts cannot recognize that a significant percentage of the opposition to Obama is based on racism, then they need to open their eyes.

Bottom line is that rightwingnuts don't WANT to acknowledge the racist element, usually for one of two reasons: (1) they're racist,or(2) they're ashamed to recognize that they're in league with racists.

Larry,
You are the only one bringing up "race." Liberals play the "race" card every chance they get to cut off real debate and to stifle dissent.

It's not going to work this time. People are tired of it, and see right through it for what it is.

Larry S December 23, 2009 9:49 PM

And we see right through racists' righteous indignation, too!

Keep you head in the sand if you choose, Brian. Just don't think that your view of the world from that vantage point is accurate.

2012 Possible GOP Contenders: Power Rankings

Here is a list of possible GOP Contenders for the 2012 Republican Nomination for President. They are listed in “Power Ranked” order based on our subjective analysis of how strong the candidates would be should they decide to seek the nomination. The rankings are NOT based on how strong the candidates would be in winning in a General Election against President Obama. The rankings will be adjusted day to day as events and information warrant. Rankings do not indicate an endorsement or preference for a particular candidate. Candidates included are those who have either indicated they may run, or individuals for which there is great speculation they will run.
