Here is video of Sen. John McCain today on Meet the Press, where he said, "We need to get bin Laden," but warned getting bin Laden would not keep Al-Qaeda from flourishing.

Of course we need to "get bin Laden." Is that debatable?

Oh, yeah, I guess it is:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'"
- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI

"...Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he's maybe in control of a cave. He's on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we're going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that's what's happening. He's on the run, if he's running at all. So we don't know whether he's in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open -- we just don't know...."
- Bush, in remarks in a Press Availablity with the Press Travel Pool, The Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford TX, 12/28/01, as reported on official White House site

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts, 3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

The video is of John McCain saying we need to get bin Laden - not George W. Bush. Your comment only shows you have "Bush Dearangement Syndrome." You just can't get over the fact he beat Al Gore and John Kerry, and kept America safe for eight years. You and your liberal friends can never change those facts.

What happened to term limits?
McCain is a disgrace and the official 2008 Fall Guy...

Really, Brian? George W. Bush "kept America safe for eight years"? I guess I need to get a new calendar. I could have sworn that George was President on September 11, 2001. And I didn't feel too safe that day.

But other than THAT, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?

The POINT, my obtuse friend, is that McCain didn't say anything earth-shaking. Most semi-intelligent people know we need to find OBL; it was only GWB, when he couldn't find OBL, that decided it wasn't worth the effort.

A trillion dollars just to spit a bullet at one man? It's not worth it. Sorry, but this is the wrong war.

Hey, Larry, read some history. 9/11 was Clinton's fault in that he could have arrested bin Laden years ago but didn't, and, more important, he created a wall to stop the sharing of information between the various intelligence agencies. Without the wall they would have been on to the 9/11 conspirators.

GWB went into Iraq for a number of reasons. In fact, in 1998 Clinton was preparing America to go into Iraq for some same reasons that Bush did: rogue state ready to provide terrorists with WMD. Check out Clinton's speech on Youtube:

Once 9/11 happened Bush could not chance doing nothing about Saddam, especially when there were training grounds for terrorists (Salman Pak) and Zarqawi was setting up his cells. Read some history.

We have all heard, ad nauseum, the revisionist apologist version of The World According to Bush.

Funny thing is, the story that "It's wasn't Bush's fault, it was Clinton's" is usually told by the same people who start the conversation with "When is Obama going to quit blaming Bush?"

I wasn't trying to assign blame to anybody, I was merely responding to the absolutely mistaken concept that "Bush kept us safe for eight years." In a pig's eye, he did!

Blind Eye Jones,  December 7, 2009 at 2:38 PM

You're assigning blame to Bush for 9/11 when it was Clinton who was responsible. Watch the video of Clinton's speech and you'll see the world according to reality -- if you can face it.

Let's try this s-l-o-w-l-y for the Blind One:

Regardless of who was "responsible" for 9-11, George W. Bush did not keep us safe for eight years.

Anonymous,  December 7, 2009 at 3:57 PM

He absolutely did keep us safe. History will judge him well in the long-run for his actions to protect the United States.

Either stop being hateful and abusive every time you post a comment, or your comments will be deleted. You can share your views without making disparaging remarks about posters. If you hold conservatives in such low regard, then go spend your time with people you consider worthy of your intellect.
