Senate Health Care Bill Down to Two Democrat Senators: Lincoln and Landrieu - Video

Eagle Forum Ad to Pressure Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln to vote Against Cloture on Senate Health Bill:

It appears the fate of the Senate Health Care Bill is now in the hands of two Democrat senators - Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.

Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska has announced he will vote for cloture tomorrow, which would open the way for the bill to be taken up on the Senate Floor and receive an up or down vote. If Democrats can cobble together the 60 votes needed to invoke Cloture tomorrow, they will then only need 50 votes (plus VP Joe Biden) to gain final passage of the bill. Fifty votes would appear to be a sure thing with the huge majority the Democrats have.

That means the Cloture vote tomorrow is the key vote. Some Democrats - like Ben Nelson - will likely vote for Cloture tomorrow under the guise of wanting to have a "free and open debate / vote" on the bill, and then vote against final passage to cover themselves, knowing there will be at least 50 votes to pass it.

Above is a Radio Ad from the Eagle Forum that are seeking to get citizens to put pressure on Lincoln to vote against Cloture tomorrow.

NOTE: Independent Joe Lieberman has said he WILL vote for Cloture tomorrow to begin debate on final passage of the bill. He has said he will consider filibustering the final bill to prevent a vote on final passage if it has a Public Option. But the reality is, if the Democrats get 60 votes tomorrow for Cloture, it is over. They will have 50 votes to pass the bill later.

UPDATE 9:33 PM CT: Politico reports tonight that Landrieu says she is "leaning towards" voting for Cloture tomorrow. Reid put $100 million in this bill for Louisiana, and it appears it has done what it was intended to do. That leaves Lincoln of Arkansas, and she has said she will consider carefully what Bill Clinton thinks. He urged passage of the bill. It looks like it is going to happen.

Two Senators, Money promised for LA... what money? Who's money? Its the People's money Mr. Reid!! and we don't want you to spend anymore!!!! We have had enough of the lies, the corruption, the deception.

This Health Care issue is too important to rush and spend, and only God, and a dozen lawyers, know what's REALLY in it. This is not about money anymore... its about principles, the Constitution of the United States that you swore a an oath to!! Someone had better say it... I will.... what is happening now is starting to bend toward treason!!!!

This is going to turn our whole country upside down. The ripple effect will be horrendous.

I'm confused, even to pass the senate with 51 votes, they still need 60 votes to close debate, is that correct?

so this 60 vote is to open debate, but they need 60 votes to close debate as well, right (even if they only need 51 votes to pass the bill in the Senate)?

I say this as a recovering Howard Dean voting democrat, now an independent, we are witnessing the destruction of the UnDemocratic Party before our eyes.

No, this cloture vote today opens debate on final passage of the bill. Once they start that, they will only need 50 votes (plus VP Biden) to pass the bill. They don't have to get 60 votes again to "close debate." At least that is my understanding.

Hi Brian,

I just looked it up, yes they only need 51 votes to pass it, but they will need 60 votes AGAIN to close debate on it. I am guessing this is what Liberman was saying he wants to filibuster if it has a public option.

Lierberman is not voting for cloture for the closing of the debate.and willing to filibuster it with the repubs

Can someone tell me why in the hell are they doing this? MOST americans, even democrats like me DO NOT WANT THIS!! I don't understand, do they think we are going to forget all about this next year, when the taxes start and busienesses are fleeing this country?

Someone explain this to me, please, I have call the DNC repeatedly and said yes, i want heathcare reform, but not this crap, this will hurt our economy even worst! Are they not seeing they are going to lose massively next year, they are destroying the democratic party with this. And more importantly, they are destroying the country with this.

PEOPLE DO NOT want this crappy bill!

Thanks for the clarification. That must be what Lieberman means about filibustering the bill, even though he will vote for cloture today.

Thanks also for sharing your view on this bill as a Democrat. I appreciate so much hearing from Democrats or liberals who share their views without being hateful and insulting. Same goes for Conservatives. Thanks again.

Hi Brian, sure. really appreciate this site!

Yes, people assume democrats means liberals, I am a democrat, BUT I am not a liberal. Frankly I am pretty much a conservative except when it comes to social issues (most dems are this way), I am a moderate when it comes to social issues, but a conservative when it comes to every other issue.

If you guys want to know how us moderate/Hillary dems feel, read the following posts. You will see why I say that the Undemocratic party is imploding, and fast.
This govt takeover is the last straw, while I have been a 23 yr lifelong democrat, this is pure marxist radicalism, and the preservation of this great country is infinitely more important than a dying Undemocratic political party.

These posts are from a Hillary supporting website, its a great analysis, if you want to send them to any conservative grassroots site to help them, please do.

the best quote: and mind you, this is from democrats:

"The selection of Barack Obama is an historical mistake which will continue to unravel the Dimocratic Party for generations. Only now are honest Democrats beginning to assess the damage done. “Mistake In ‘08″ is the first installment in a multi-part series which will detail how big a mistake was self-inflicted by Democrats in 2008.
