Here is a video report on West Virginia Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd becoming the longest serving member of Congress in American History. Byrd was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1953, and was then elected to the Senate in 1958. He is now serving his ninth term in the Senate.
The report says Byrd has a 98% attendance record over these nearly 59 years in Congress, and he has cast more than 18,000 votes. Byrd will turn 92 years old this coming Friday.
