Sen. Joe Lieberman Says there are "Strong Warning Signs" Fort Hood Attack was a "Terrorist Act"; Intends to Open Congressional Investigation - Video

Here is video of Sen. Joe Lieberman on Fox News Sunday yesterday where he talked about Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Malik Hasan and possible links to Radical Islam.

Lieberman made the following statement about Hasan:

"If the reports were are receiving of various statements he made, acts he took, are valid, he had turned to Islamist extremism. And therefore, if that is true, the murder of these 13 people was a terrorist act, and in fact it was the most destructive terrorist act committed on American soil since 9/11. But I want to say very quickly we don't know enough to say now, but there are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist, and therefore that this was a terrorist act."
Lieberman did a great job laying out the case that Hasan committed a terrorist act. Though the investigation is ongoing and not final, it certainly looks like that is the case.

Lieberman said he also intends to open a Congressional investigation into the attack to see if the U.S. Army missed warning signs about Hasan and his Radical Islamic beliefs and statements.

I don't get the fanaticism with the right in having this declared an act of terrorism. What does that accomplish, exactly? How does that change anything? Will less people die if we label it "terrorism"? Will it give us legal justification to round up all Muslims and put them into internment camps, as we did to Japanese-AMERICANS during WWII?

What's the point?

2012 Possible GOP Contenders: Power Rankings

Here is a list of possible GOP Contenders for the 2012 Republican Nomination for President. They are listed in “Power Ranked” order based on our subjective analysis of how strong the candidates would be should they decide to seek the nomination. The rankings are NOT based on how strong the candidates would be in winning in a General Election against President Obama. The rankings will be adjusted day to day as events and information warrant. Rankings do not indicate an endorsement or preference for a particular candidate. Candidates included are those who have either indicated they may run, or individuals for which there is great speculation they will run.
