CBS News Says Obama Prepared to Give Gen. McChrystal Close to 40,000 Additional Troops - Video 11/9/09
Here is video of a CBS News Report tonight where David Martin says President Obama is going to give Gen. Stanley McChrystal "most, if not all, of the 40,000 additional troops he is asking for."
However, the report says the "Surge" in Afghanistan would be a slow-motion surge - with the troops arriving there over the course of the entire 2010 year. That differs from the Surge Strategy in Iraq where all the troops arrived in a five-month period. One expert says a "slow-motion" surge will produce "slow-motion results." This plan would result in there being around 100,000 U.S. Troops in Afghanistan at the end of Obama's first term in 2012.
