McCain Says Obama Should Listen to Those who Got it Right in Iraq in Deciding Afghanistan Strategy - Video 10/6/09
Here is video of Republican Leaders reacting to a bipartisan Congressional Meeting today with President Obama at the White House to talk about future strategy in Afghanistan.
House Minority Leader John Boehner went first, saying he was "hopeful" Obama would get this decision right, and that he believed Obama really did want their input.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell then spoke and said he was glad Obama had the best group of military leaders possible around him, and he hoped Obama would heed their advice.
Sen. John McCain then spoke and said it is clear that "time is not on our side" in Afghanistan. McCain said the strategy by military leaders worked in Iraq, and should therefore be listened to by President Obama in determining the future of our strategy in Afghanistan.
NOTE: Of course, McCain's comment was a zinger aimed at Obama and the Democrats who almost uniformly got it wrong in Iraq by opposing the "Surge Strategy" there, and by declaring defeat. McCain is right - Obama should listen to those who got it right in Iraq so we can get it right in Afghanistan.
