GOP Sen. Olympia Snowe Explains "When History Calls, History Calls" to Justify Vote for Health Bill - Video 10/13/09

Here is video of GOP Sen. Olympia Snowe giving her reasoning on why she decided to vote in favor of the "Baucus Health Care Bill" to move it out of the Senate Finance Committee. The bill passed 14-9, with Snowe being the only Republican to support it.

Snowe said the bill was not "all she would wish," but she said "when history calls, history calls."

The Obama Administration will seize on Snowe's support to claim "bi-partisan" support for their plan going forward. Snowe may indeed go down in history for her support of this bill, but it won't be positive. If the Democrats are able to impose Government Health Care on the nation, it will be looked back on as a total disaster. But at this juncture, the GOP simply did not have the votes to keep it from leaving committee.

Did you hear what Lindsey Graham said at his town hall meeting? it is unblievable.

He said:
telling some who questioned his Christianity and party loyalty that their minority conservative views wouldn't succeed without the political coalitions he said are necessary to serve the majority of Americans and attract enough votes in Congress.

"If you don't like it, you can leave," he said.

Even if you are a minority in the Senate, you still have to have principles. Obviously Graham is willing to throw his under the bus to "make nice" with the opposition.

Conservatives should be outraged. Does he not know that 40% of Americans call themselves conservative?

2012 Possible GOP Contenders: Power Rankings

Here is a list of possible GOP Contenders for the 2012 Republican Nomination for President. They are listed in “Power Ranked” order based on our subjective analysis of how strong the candidates would be should they decide to seek the nomination. The rankings are NOT based on how strong the candidates would be in winning in a General Election against President Obama. The rankings will be adjusted day to day as events and information warrant. Rankings do not indicate an endorsement or preference for a particular candidate. Candidates included are those who have either indicated they may run, or individuals for which there is great speculation they will run.
