Weekly Poll Results Show 51% Believe the GOP Will Regain Control of the House in 2010 Election

Results of the Freedom's Lighthouse Weekly Poll for August 31-September 7 show 51% of the 482 people who voted believe the Republican Party will gain 40 or more seats in the 2010 mid-term election to retake control of the House of Representatives. Here's how the voting broke down:

Question - How will the GOP do in the 2010 Congressional Elections? Current Balance is 257-178 in favor of Democrats:

51% Gain 40 or more to take control (244 votes)
24% Gain 16-30 seats (116 votes)
10% Gain 31-39 seats (50 votes)
7% Gain 0-15 seats (36 votes)
5% Lose 1-15 seats (23 votes)
3% Lose 16-30 seats (13 votes)

That's 61% who believe Republicans will gain at least 31 seats, and 85% who believe the GOP will gain at least 16 seats.

WOW! Who woulda thunk it? An informal straw poll on a rightwingnnut blog determines that the GOP will take back the majority of the House in 2010! That's got to be the bookend to the informal straw poll that said McBush would win the 2008 election by a 70%-30% margin.

Other poll results:

70% believe Obama was born in Kenya.

83% believe Reagan should be granted sainthood.

94& plan to name their next child "Glenn" or "Glennda".

It's entertaining, I guess, but don't go getting all impressed with yourselves. :-)

The poll is instructive in that it shows that conservatives are optimistic about the chances of taking back the House. I guarantee you that three or four months ago, nowhere near 51% would have said that was possible. Obama's actions have made the difference.

We don't claim the polls here are scientific. It's just a poll to see how readers here are thinking on issues at hand.

I didn't think YOU were misusing the poll for anything other than what it is, Brian. Just as long as your "cult followers" get it, too! :-)
