President Obama's Health Care Speech to a Joint Session of Congress - Complete Video 9/9/09

Here is complete video of President Barack Obama delivering his major address on Health Care tonight to a Joint Session of Congress.

Obama said he intended to be "the last President" confronted with redoing America's Health Care system. He called for a 10-year, $900 Billion plan to overhaul the nation's health care system.

Despite hefty Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate, centrists in Obama’s party have balked at the president’s proposal to create a public health care plan to compete with private insurers.

You better puump up the volume and the vitriol, rightwingnuts, because after that speech, you're playing from behind. Obama called your heroes out, and they looked and sounded like complete jerks to all of America. A sad, sad performance by the Republican Party tonight!

Now go ahead and hit us with your best Rash Limbore, Sean Cantagree, and Glenn Dreck drivel... the desperation in your voices will be quite evident.

You are delusional if you think that speech puts Obama ahead. Obama sounded hateful and thin-skinned, and did nothing to bring the nation together. While Wilson should not have violated the decorum of the House by shouting "You Lie," he only said what millions of Americans were screaming at their TV! Even the AP is pointing out Obama's lack of honesty. I'll post that shortly.

Maybe you should stop screaming long enough to listen.

The speech I heard said that Obama would put in a McCain proposal to provide low-cost coverage for people who have pre-existing conditions.

The speech I heard said that Obama would take immediate action to help limit medical liability lawsuits.

The speech I heard said that Obama wouldn't sign any bill that increased the national deficit by a dime.

The speech I heard said that Obama would consider dropping a public option if sufficient competition could be generated between private insurers to lower costs to consumers.

Now, maybe what you were shouting at was when Obama said there were no "death panels". He said that because there are no death panels!

Maybe what you were shouting at was when Obama said that government dollars would not be used to pay for abortions. He said that because no federal dollars would be used to pay for abortions.

Or maybe what you were shouting at was when Obama said that coverage would not be extended to illegal aliens. He said that because coverage would not be extended to illegal aliens.

And, lastly, maybe what you were shouting at was when Obama said the time for action has come, and he would call out the rightwingnuts (my term, not his) who continue to spread lies and create boogeymen about healthcare reform.

"Well the time for bickering is over. The time for games has passed. Now is the season for action. Now is when we must bring the best ideas of both parties together, and show the American people that we can still do what we were sent here to do. Now is the time to deliver on health care."

It's time, folks.

What are you talking about? How is he lying?.. he hasn't had a chance to do anything yet! He has had to defend himself from all these outrageous lies thrown at him by the rigid and irresponsible right wing! I don't understand your hatefulness. We need unity in our country and compromise. We have a president that is wise and speaks to us all with intelligence and the willingness to compromise and to hear both sides. Maybe YOU should look at both sides of the coin and in between instead of watching Rush Limbaugh all day and believing his emotional downright fabrications.
