Newt Gingrich Hammers Jimmy Carter for Claiming Most Opposition to Obama is Because He is a "Black Man" - Video 9/15/09

Here is video of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on with Sean Hannity tonight, where he blasted former President Jimmy Carter for saying in an interview today that most opposition to President Obama is because "he is a black man." Gingrich said it is "destructive for America to suggest you cannot criticize the President without it being a racial act."

Gingrich made an outstanding point by saying liberals can't believe anyone honestly disagrees with you - it's a sort of a "secular religion" - so you assume there is some kind of deeper motivation. They just won't accept that there are good, honest people who simply believe in smaller government and free market principles.

He also commented on the ACORN Scandal, and called for a "very careful audit" of all Federal Funds given to ACORN over the past five years.

Gingrich called the Democrats censure of Joe Wilson today a "sad moment" of "pure politics" that should not have been done.

Gingrich said it will be "catastrophic" for the Democrats if they force through a Health Care Bill in the Senate using the "Reconciliation Process" (Nuclear Option). That's because it is intended only for spending bills, and Gingrich said the Democrats would have to ignore so many points of order in using that process that it would be obvious to everyone what a terrible misuse of the system it is.

Gingrich? Gingrich? Where have I heard that name?? Oh, I REMEMBER! Isn't he the guy who had been Speaker of the House, who resigned in disgrace? Yeah, that redneck from Georgia!! Gosh, who would know more about racism and/or congressional censures that Eye of Newt?

Strange, I hold Jimmy Carter in utter contempt, and he certainly isn't black.
Liberals depend on the race card because they can't accept that their political philosphy is repulsive to freedom loving Americans. Liberals choose dependency over freedom, and hate anyone who will not follow.

I have always admired Pres. Carter. As a former president, he has been fabulous at walking his talk, helping others, etc., though Habitat for Humanity and many international missions.

The fact is, this is partially racial. Anyone that saw the white house pics with watermelon on the front lawns, and the various memos sent around though both elected officials and or their staff, and police (many of these were CLEARLY and overtly racist) cannot possibly deny it.

The membership of white nationalist and white supremist organizations has skyrocketed. There is ONLY one reason for that, and many leaders of these groups have openly acknowledged that President Obama is the reason.

So, please... don't pretend the truth isn't the truth.

Jimmy Carter did not say "partially racial." He said that "most" opposition to Obama is because he is a black man.

It's the Democrats and the liberals that are being racist. They are treating President Obama as if he can't stand up to scrutiny and debate. They are using "race" to cut off the kind of debate and scrutiny that every President has had. Why shouldn't Obama be treated like any other President? He is accountable to the people - all the people - both liberal and conservative. Conservatives disagree with his POLICIES and his IDEOLOGY. We opposed John Kerry too. It's not about race - except in the minds of Democrats.

Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel once stated on NBC in 1972, “the idea of judging someone in terms of black or brown or white is an eye disease.” This would be a good argument for liberals to use - except there is one problem... THEY are the ones noticing his race! By averring racial undertones as the reason for policy contentions, and by attributing most gainsayers with racism, they are in fact noticing race as a reason in the first place and giving what few bigots there are a stage in the first place. Years ago, Jimmy Carter asked America to shed its "inordinate fear of communism," and to throw aside its concern with "traditional issues of war and peace" in support of "new global issues of justice, equity and human rights." He stated that we had denounced our values in the heart of the Cold War, that we had, "fought fire with fire, never thinking that fire is quenched with water." Jimmy Carter is an appeaser. Nobody has claimed to stand for human rights and yet appeased autocrats as much as Mr. Carter, and as an Israeli citizen, I know that for a fact.

Sorry, Brian, but I'm not buying the idea that a lot of this isn't racial... maybe not on your part, maybe not on a lot fo peoples' parts, but it IS racial for many many many.

Yes, the rightwing opposed John Kerry. Yes, they swift-boated the hell out of him. But what is happening with Obama is a whole differen, higher level of magnitude of abuse than Keryy ever got.

Now, maybe it's just a function of Obama winning the election and more rightwingers being bad sports about finally losing an election. I don't know. But to suggest that the core of "red states" is in the South, and the home of blatant racial prejudices is in the South, is strictly a coincidence is mind-numbing.

We've come a long way in the last 30 or 40 years when it comes to race relations, but we're not even close to being color-blind yet. And to pretend that we are isn't advancing the progress chart any.
