Houston Man Ticketed for "Criminal Mischief" for Posting "Obama as Joker" Flyers in Neighborhood - Video 9/17/09

Here is a video report about a Houston man who says he was ticketed by police for "criminal mischief" because he posted "Obama as Joker" posters in his neighborhood. Apparently someone who saw the poster called police, and he alleges the police came to his home and "slammed him against a car" in his own driveway, handcuffed him, and threw him in the back of the car. He was ticketed and released.

NOTE: The person who posted this video has inserted some editorial comments into the video as it plays. They make an interesting observation that the reporter doing the story stands in front of an "Obama - HOPE" mural painted on an outside wall even while the report is about a man being ticketed for posting "Obama as Joker" flyers.

Zer0bonehead's lemmings don't care about your rights, only your blind, dumb obedience. Alot like Hitler's Brownshirts. You do not argue mit der Fuehrer! Ja Wöhl!

C'mon, be reasonable. The Obama mural seems to have been painted on the wall of the Democratic office... or, at least, on a building where the owner gave permission. This clown was taping this stuff to public property... light poles, road signs, etc. You have First Amendment rights to SAY what you want, in most circumstances. That doesn't mean you can tape signs up anywhere in your neighborhood, just because you feel like it Or because you're a dumb redneck looking to win a prize from a rightwingnut blog. Richard Nixon in his prime had more credibility that this stupid kid.

Really? You think the kid is stupid? He was posting signs of what he believed and SEVEN, not one, not two, SEVEN cops showed up and SLAMMED him to the hood of the cop car. Then he was charged with Criminal Mischief. The definition of this is as follows:

"criminal mischief is committed when a perpetrator, having no right to do so nor any reasonable ground to believe that she has such right, intentionally damages property of another person, intentionally participates in the destruction of property of another person, or participates in the reckless damage or destruction of property of another person."

So what the police basically said is that his signs were not allowed to be posted on the places he was putting them. So, if this were true, and we will use a light pole as an example, if you were to post a lost puppy sign up, then you could be charged as well. I DOUBT that he was charged because he was putting up signs. The person that called it in was angry with the CONTENT of the sign and not the sign itself. That speaks VOLUMES. To Diogenes, crawl back under your hate rock. The First Amendment shall not be infringed upon.

Anoinymous, slide back into anonymity.

Who says seven cops slammed himm into the hood of his car? Oh yeah, I know: the redneck kid himself. The kid looking for his 15 seconds of "fame". Yeah, he's credible.

I have no doubt that thee guy who complained to the cops did so because he was angry about the content of the signs. But the cops wouldn't act on that, CERTAINLY not in a place like Houston!

And Anony? Try not to count on Wikipedia as a source of law, OK? Even so, the kid likely broke the LOCAL ordinance re" criminal mischief. And so would the guy who posted "lost puppy" signs. Is everybody ticketed for it? Nope. Butm judgig solely from his look and his attitude, this redneck probably brought it on himself.

But, to his credit (and your discredit) even this moron realizes his mistake. Check out his own comment on a site called "Lingwood Underground":

"MxMike. --- 2 days ago - quote
'The AC guy is his brother, Bryan. They work together. They both came to my house once. So he has been defacing the community with these things on traffic signs?'

It was me. Bryan has already let me have it for this and he is mad as hell about it. He told me not to do it in the first place. I should have listened. I will tell you right now though, leave bryan out of this. These were my actions and he has no involvement and no similarities in political or religious beliefs whatsoever. And for the record, we no longer run calls together.

Thank you."

A dumbass kid pulls a dumbass stunt, and lives to regret it. No harm,, no foul. Don't turn him into Peter Zenger.
