Campbell Brown Slams Fox News for Ad Saying CNN "Missed the Story" on 9/12 March - Video 9/18/09

Here is video of CNN's Campbell Brown slamming Fox News for their ad asking why other networks - including CNN - "missed the story" - referring to the huge 9/12 March on Washington.

Campbell Brown rightly points out that CNN did cover the story. We even posted video last weekend of a CNN Reporter being shouted down with chants of "Glenn Beck" and "Tell the truth" as she tried to report on the rally. So it is not true that CNN did not cover the story.

But it is true they "missed" the story, because much of their reporting sought to either downplay the seriousness of the event, or characterize those in attendance as fringe people instead of average Americans who are just desperately concerned about their nation.

But as far as coverage, it was not fair to lump CNN in with MSNBC, ABC, and CBS, who did virtually nothing at all to cover the March.

Just curious how YOU feel qualified to "characterize those in attendance as fringe people instead of average Americans who are just desperately concerned about their nation."

Were you there? If you were, did you see or speak with a significant percentage of the 70,000 in attendance, so that you could tell who they were?

Or did you take Glenn Dreck's and Faux News' opinion, instead?

(Don't worry, they're rhetorical questions. We know the answer.)

I feel I watched enough of the coverage on C-Span and other networks to see that the vast majority of people looked like average, hard-working people. Sure, there were some crazies there. But the attempt to characterize the majority there in that way did not even match up with the visuals received from watching coverage of the event.

Appearances can deceive. One can be on the fringe without "looking crazy."

Anonymous,  September 19, 2009 at 5:22 PM

As usual, you are the scumbag troll of the forums. As as I had said in other comments before, go back under your rock. No trolling here. Move On... as it were...

Diogenes September 19, 2009 at 6:06 PM

And, I should have said, one can also be beyond the fringe while looking and sounding quite crazy. Take our friend Anony here... please.

Is that what passes for thoughtful dialogue and debate in your neck of the backwoods, redneck? If so, you're a truly laughable example of what's wrong with the rightwingnut community. Now go strap on a sidearm and shoot a couple of those seventeen beer cans you emptied this afternoon.

If you understood the words thought and intelligence I would argue with you. however, since you are obviously a Leftist Nut Liberal, you need to go back to your safe room away from the rest of the world. The rest of the world that is occupied by VERY opinionated people who you call right wing nuts. I am not on the right, nor am I on the left. I wish both parties were placed at the bottom of the ocean so we could have a fresh start.

From the fact that you always quote "Faux" news, you must somehow believe that CNN, MSNBC, ABC and NBC are somehow beholden to all that is right in this world then you are a sadly mistaken individual. I have watched time, after time, after time, after time, the amount of crap that comes from those "news" agencies. It is EXTREMELY telling when the President of the United States, does NOT want to go on FOX, but goes to all the other channels. He is AFRAID as usual of the hard questions. No one asked those questions during the campaign and no one does it now when he is POTUS. So you tell me who is the nut, the person who listens to the BNS that comes from those channels, or the thoughtful, balanced news reports from FOX.

As for nutty, wrong again. Passionate, articulate, and pissed off at the liberals in the gov't. So if you like Obama and and his radical friends, then be my guest and keep to your brainwashing. In the meantime, stop trolling with your useless comments.

Diogenes September 19, 2009 at 10:02 PM

Are you seriously gullible enough to believe that the ONLY "honest" source of "fair and balanced" news is Faux? EVERYBODY ELSE is "in the bag" for Obama and the libs?? Did it never cross your mind that, if Faux was being a reputable news service, SOMEBODY else wouldn't copy them, to grab a part of their market share??

When many sources offer facts, and one source offers BS, why in the world would anyone think that you're forced to "balance" the two equally? Truths are truths, and lies are lies, and you don't have to balance out every truth with a lie, just in the interest of being "fair"!

WHy do you think that the FreedomWorks PR guy lied about ABC News saying there were a million protesters in DC last weekend? He knew that if he said Faux, it'd be easily dismissed as just more rightwingnut propaganda. If he said ABC, it'd have more believability. And it was a total lie by FreedomWorks! But it got picked up by Michelle Malkin and reported as the truth and then Faux News did the same, and then the lie magically became the truth in the rightwing community. And when Bill O'Really had the guts to say that the numbers were way overblown, Glenn Dreck and the rightwing (and this blog, for that matter) excoriated him.... for being honest!

You're not about to shut me up, little Anony, because there may be some people willing to listen to "the other side of the story". Brian may shut me off, because he's tired of dealing with a constant thorn in his side who tells a different truth than his version, and that's his right. There is no freedom of speech on a blog; the blog owner always has the right to close off people who disagree with him. But you, little Anony, concern me not one whit.

Nice to know I am now a thorn in your side. I consider myself intelligent enough to see who is more fair and balanced. The "anti-Acorn investigation, everything is racist if its against Obama, and FOX does not exist" main stream media. Again, you believe who you believe and I will believe what I believe. Keep smoking the Hopium, it only gets better from here.

The purpose of comments is to share your views on the subject matter of the posts, not to be deliberately argumentative or insulting.

I have given you a lot of latitude to share the liberal view of things even though this is a conservative site. I'm sorry to see your only purpose here appears to be to be a "constant thorn in my side" (your words). I'm not interested in a "thorn in the side." You are not welcome to comment here further if that's what you are about.

Diogenes September 19, 2009 at 11:06 PM

Little Anony, please remember: "reading is fundamental". I never said, or even thought for a millisecond, that you were a thorn in my side.

Brian, you originally seemed open-minded enough to listen to opposing viewpoints. But tonight, you seem a whole lot more interested in attacking my point of view than you are in seeing any set of facts that challenges your preconceptions. Tonight, you chose to totally ignore a racist "joke" about the President of the United State told by a senatorial hopeful from Missouri at a conclave of the Religious Right, and instead whined about my having the nerve to mention his racism and the fact that it was laughed at at that gathering of the so-called "Religious" Right!

It's the message you have a problem with, Brian, not the messenger. My goal is not to be a thorn in your side; my goal is to show you and others the other side of the story that you constantly present. If you and they choose to see only the rightwing side, that's your prerogative. And, before you even say it, please don't suggest I only see the Left Side of the story, because I read just about everything posted here, and 90% of it is rightwing.

Just do me one favor: watch the Roy Blunt clip, and tell me it's OK with you. If it is, you won't have to revoke my invitation to comment here. I'll leave on my own accord, in total disgust and dismay.

Hypocrisy abounds with you. Did you not see the Bill Maher joke? Yeah. That was classy. The self appointed Joker of the Liberals told a racist funny. NO ONE SAID ANYTHING. So you want to talk?

BTW, most conservatives do actually read/listen to the other side. I listen to a progressive radio station just to hear the hot air. I read the Chicago Tribune, DNN.com, NY Times.Com, you name it. However, reality always brings me back to Foxnews, AmericanThinker, and FreedomsLighthouse. At least these media outlets are more aligned with American values. By that I mean, the way it was founded.

Brian September 19, 2009 at 11:23 PM

You cannot be serious. I just watched the Roy Blunt clip and he never mentions President Obama! The joke was about monkeys at a Golf Course in India (they really had/have monkeys in Asia and South Asia) and the way the rules of golf were turned upside down because of the way monkeys would pick up balls on the course and throw them. Blunt then drew an analogy to Washington and Congress and how things are upside down there. He never mentioned Obama. In fact, he mentioned Al Franken and then Tom DeLay being on dancing with the stars. I took him to be making fun of Congress and the way Washington works.

This only serves to show that some people want to make everything into a racist attack, even when it is not there.

Diogenes September 19, 2009 at 11:24 PM

I have no idea what you're blathering about, about Bill Maher. I am pretty sure, however, that Bill Maher claims to be a comedian, he isn't a member of the U.S. House of Representatives running for the U.S. Senate, and he didn't make a racist joke criticizing the President of the United States.

Diogenes September 19, 2009 at 11:41 PM

Yeah, you got me there, Brian. It's not like racists ever refer to blacks as "monkeys". And, of course, Blunt referring to "the monkey" in the singular MUST mean all the members of Congress.

And it's not like this is what happened at the end of Blunt's speech:

"Here's the quote of Roy concluding his remarks at the Value Voters Summit, where he tells the crowd not to be intimidated by accusations of racism, and then refers back to his monkey joke:

"Don't be intimidated out of this fight. President Carter said if you disagree with this president, it's somehow fundamentally racist in nature... That's not what this is about. And we can't be intimidated into believing that that's what this is about... You do have to play the ball where it's thrown in this case."

I guess, since Roy Blunt didn't come out and call Obama a n***er, it's proof he's not racist.

Adios, Brian. I hope you all NEVER "get your country back." We'll all be much for the worse if you all do.

Anonymous,  September 21, 2009 at 7:46 PM

Diogenes, you've out done yourself with the whole Roy Blunt joke. If you can't understand the fact that he was literally talking about monkeys, then you head is WAY too far up your liberal butt. We will take our country back you moron. People have finally realized how stupid and moronic liberals and progressive really are. They cannot screen qualified candidates, at least ones that don't cheat on their taxes, are communists, racists (current and former - see Byrd KKK on Google), liars (Obama, Pelosi, Dodd, and Franks), and in general rude people (Boxer). We, the American people, are tired of being talked down to, treated like the red haired step-child you hate, and in general treated like we don't know what's best. Well let me give you a clue .... liberals and progressive have no idea what to do with the country as they have done nothing productive their entire lives. they have organized and protested, they have lived off of other people's money. When it comes to do something with their own, they either have none or have no idea how to make it. Go back under the rock from which you crawled.
