Georgia Dem Rep. Has Meltdown Tirade When Doctor in Crowd Presses on ObamaCare - Video 8/7/09

Here is video of Georgia Democrat Rep. David Scott in total meltdown mode after a medical doctor in an open forum asked Scott pointed questions about ObamaCare. The doctor asked Scott if "he was going to be voting" on a health care bill, and Scott said "I don't know." When the doctor persisted, Scott completely lost it and began yelling at the doctor and others in the crowed, accusing them of "hijacking" the meeting.

This video shows much of Scott's meltdown, and also contains an interview with the doctor.

NOTE: During his tirade, Rep. Scott said his meetings were for his constituents. Turns out the doctor IS one of his constituents.

Wow! That was actually a fair news presentation of this issue. I'm embedding it in my blog.

In fairness to Rep. Scott, if the meeting was supposed to be about a highway project, it IS kind of unfair for Dr. Hill to bring up healthcare issues.

And in fairness to Dr. Hill, if Rep. Scott's office refused his earlier requests for a meeting on healthcare, then he took the option that was open to him.

This is one of my concerns about where this whole debate is going: we're screaming at one another and trying to drown out one another, as if that makes it a "win" for "our side". And everybody's on edge. Dr. Hill seems like a reasonable guy (at least, when he's interviewed in his own office, after the fact), and Rep. Scott is reacting not so much to the Dr. Hill that's in front of him, but the guy who Scott has unfairly prejudged to be a rabble-rousing paid troublemaker, which Dr. Hill isn't.

This congressman acts as though his constituent should get his permission to talk to the almighty congressman. Sorry, you have a right to ask your representative anything at anytime. This congressman knows healthcare is on the minds of everyone right now. He should be prepared to respond intelligently, in the public. My congresswoman, Lois Capps (D), central coast of California, refuses to hold any public meeting on the subject. Likewise, Boxer. So, I'm going to work to vote both of them out in 2010. If they're not willing to calmly listen and respectfully respond to voters' concerns on this vital subject, then they don't deserve re-election.
