U.S. Soldier Captured by Taliban Appears on New Video - Video 7/18/09

Here is video of a U.S. Soldier captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan appearing in a video released by the Taliban. The soldier identifies himself as "Gary," as he is shown eating on camera. The Pentagon has confirmed that the man in the video is an American soldier, but they have not confirmed his identity yet, pending notification of family.

The soldier says he is afraid he won't see his family again, and when prompted by a guard, gives a message to America:

"To my fellow Americans who have loved ones over here, who know what it's like to miss them, you have the power to make our government bring them home," he said. "Please, please bring us home so that we can be back where we belong and not over here, wasting our time and our lives and our precious life that we could be using back in our own country. Please bring us home. It is America and American people who have that power."

No doubt he was told what he had to say, or knew what he was expected to say by his captors. We should all pray for his strength, well-being, and that he makes it back to his family.
