Obama Refuses to Apologize for Police "Acted Stupidly" Remark; Plays National Professor on "Race" - Video 7/24/09
Here is video just moments ago of President Obama stepping into the White House Briefing Room to try and quell the firestorm over his "acted stupidly" remarks about the Cambridge Police Department.
Obama is trying the non-apology apology routine. He never apologized, only saying he wishes he had chosen different words. He maintains the police officer "over-reacted," and also said he thinks the Harvard professor "over-reacted." Obama said he thought both men were "good men," and actually said with a straight face he did not intend to malign the police department when he said they had "acted stupidly."
He tried to be "national professor" by saying this is a "teachable moment" on race in America.
So, essentially, Obama did NOT apologize. Instead he tried to appear as the above the fray lecturer and made "race" the central issue once again.

As nuch as you want to portray Obama as the villain in all things, Obama doesn't have to apologize for what he said. It was a "stupid" choice of words, but his underlying message was not in error. Sgt. Crowley AND Prof. Gates both probably overreacted, but it is part of Crowley's job to NOT overreact.
Now let's move on.
You people always want to move on when your guy is caught with his foot in his mouth. Keep talking Barry.
POTUS is a race baiter
As far as Obama's use of the word "stupidly" it's making a mountain out of an ANThill. With what America is faced with, this is a wart on the butt of our issues.
As for the underlying Gates-Crowley flap, this type of thing happens every day, several times a day, across America. It'd be nice to think that the notoriety of this particular incident might raise the evel of debate some, but it doesn't seem like that's happening anytime soon.
But, please, feel free to wallow in "stupidly" for as long as you want. It's deathly important!
