Obama's Disarmament Rhetoric May Signal Dangerous Days Ahead for America - Video 4/5/09

President Barack Obama says the United States must lead an effort to reduce and eventually to completely eradicate nuclear weapons. He said we have a responsibility to do so as the only nation to ever have used one.

Obama is ironically calling for such an effort even as Iran is developing it's nuclear capability, and North Korea has launched a multi-stage rocket that it very well may shop around to nations like Pakistan and Iran.

This is where President Obama's leftist ideology could become deadly dangerous to the United States. He does not seem to grasp that the only thing that prevents Russia, China and other totalitarian states from overrunning Europe and Asia is the knowledge of the "big stick" the United States possesses in nuclear weapons.

To think there will ever be a world without nuclear weapons is simply wishful thinking. In fact, I would say the only reason there would ever cease to be nuclear weapons is if some even more terrible weapon were developed. The United States could never trust nations like Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iran to the extent it would take for us to completely destroy our nuclear arsenal. It would be suicide to think we could trust such nations and disarm. I would hope President Obama would not be so foolish as to ever propose such a thing. But his words today make me very uncomfortable as to what his leftist ideology will drive him to pursue.

He is following the lead of JFK. Nuclear disarmament was a high priority. Yet the closest the world ever came to a nuclear conflict was only a short time later. We were actually saved by the Soviet Union 'turning their ships around'. I doubt our enemies today will exercise such restraint.

2012 Possible GOP Contenders: Power Rankings

Here is a list of possible GOP Contenders for the 2012 Republican Nomination for President. They are listed in “Power Ranked” order based on our subjective analysis of how strong the candidates would be should they decide to seek the nomination. The rankings are NOT based on how strong the candidates would be in winning in a General Election against President Obama. The rankings will be adjusted day to day as events and information warrant. Rankings do not indicate an endorsement or preference for a particular candidate. Candidates included are those who have either indicated they may run, or individuals for which there is great speculation they will run.
