Hannity vs. Golberg: Is the Right Doing to Obama what the Left did to Bush? - Video 4/13/09

Here is video of Bernie Goldberg talking with Sean Hannity last night about the fact that some on the Right are rabidly finding fault with everything President Obama does. They specifically discuss the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips by the U.S. Navy and whether or not Obama should be given any credit for the success of the rescue.

Goldberg criticizes the media for their continued "slobbering love affair with Obama," but says the Right must not do to Obama what the Left did to President George W. Bush - demonize every single act.

I agree with Goldberg here. We must not do what Democrats and the Left did to Bush. They gave him credit for nothing, and demonized every word and act he said and did. I do agree with Hannity that the media is trying to give Obama too much credit for what happened, but he should not be demonized for what turned out to be a successful effort. Conservatives should praise our incredible military and be thankful President Obama gave the correct authority for them to get the job done.

National Command Authority controls trigger pulls by Rules of Engagement, which were in effect, before and now.

I'm against the President, distracted by this messy matter, said so, then, when it works out, steps up to take credit. I'm not against him taking credit for doing something at his level.

Did President Bush leap forward and ask for credit for every time a Marine/Army rifleman hit his target in Iraq?

Will Barack Obama claim credit (or by proxy via his staff and press secretary) for every FBI/SWAT/etc hostage scenario in the nation as a result?

It's the President of the United States asking for our approval for the action of a middle grade enlisted man as his own effort, not about stating I object, just to object, because it's him.

The Left blamed GWB for things that there was no way any one President ever had control over, such as blaming him for earthquakes, tsunamis, felon shooting someone on the street, a few bored national guardsman who took prisoners and violated UCMJ. That's what the Left did...this is not that at all.

My objection is him directly taking credit for just doing his job, then acting as though it was something special. This is not blaming him for the floods in the mid west.

Left Wing Troll here - Nobody did anything to Bush - he was an awful leader all on his own. You cons are lame. Grow up, evolve, stop being stoopid.

Left Wing Troll,
You have shown yourself to be reasonable at times, so you have to be able to step back and see that those on the Left became totally deranged about George W. Bush. Not a single attack in this country following 9-11 for over seven years and he gets zero credit from your side for that reality. That is no justification, though, for those of us on the Right to treat President Obama in the same way.

Xformed, you are right that his administration should not be pushing Obama to the front on this and claiming credit for the outcome. He gave authority to use deadly force, but the real heroes are those who carried it out.
