Not as good a speech as I think his flock was hoping for, but I'll give him points for mentioning deployed troops and those who have served, the battles of the past ... in terms of giving credit and talking of everyone's sense of responsibility (both personal and that of Government not to screw The People, good on 'im for both counts). If he cares as much about American ideals as he's saying and doesn't get bought and sold, the "we're doomed" crowd might be barking up the wrong tree.
Stale old politics reference actually hit me today ... you know, it would kind of be nice for the whole dynamic to move away from our CNN/MSNBC talking head pundit crap. What do we want from this country? Way more important. Maybe this paves the way to escape the whole libleft vs. freeper gasbag shouting match mentality and get back to basics. I am weary of both sides at this point.
Thank God we now have a president who recognizes the people of this country as citizens and not consumers.
He calls upon us, not to consume, but to awaken as responsible citizens of what still is our great nation.
There was a time when people greeted each other with the title, Citizen.
I hope in this new time in America, we become true citizens again.
President Obama, thank you.
