PBS Journalist Tavis Smiley Says It's His Job to Make Obama a "Great President" - Video 1/9/09

If the liberal media ever had any pretense of objectivity regarding Barack Obama, it is crumbling as the Inauguration of the 44th President draws near. This is vide of PBS's Tavis Smiley, who regards himself as a journalist, appearing on Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough today. Smiley blatantly says that he sees it as his job to "help make Obama a great President." Smiley begins talking about Obama at the 2:58 mark of the video.

It is one thing, as an American, to want the nation's President to do what is best for America, and to want him/her to do a great job. It is quite another thing to say, as a national journalist, that it is your job to make him great. What that translates into is: "It's my job to make Obama look good." What happened to a free and independent press, the watchdog for the American people? I guess that only applies when a Republican is in the White House. When did you EVER hear ANY journalist say it was his/her job to make George. W. Bush, or Ronald Reagan, or Richard Nixon a great President?

We've known this for a long time. I guess it is still shocking when a nationally known journalist just comes right out and says it - without even a blush of trying to conceal their unmitigated bias. How many journalists will follow this course? Will there be some who stay true to their profession? Let's hope there is a remnant who will be.

2012 Possible GOP Contenders: Power Rankings

Here is a list of possible GOP Contenders for the 2012 Republican Nomination for President. They are listed in “Power Ranked” order based on our subjective analysis of how strong the candidates would be should they decide to seek the nomination. The rankings are NOT based on how strong the candidates would be in winning in a General Election against President Obama. The rankings will be adjusted day to day as events and information warrant. Rankings do not indicate an endorsement or preference for a particular candidate. Candidates included are those who have either indicated they may run, or individuals for which there is great speculation they will run.
