Is Obama Following Lincoln Model and Assembling a "Team of Rivals" Cabinet? - Video 11/14/08

Here is video of a discussion historian Doris Kearns Goodwin had with NBC's David Gregory about what may be President-elect Barack Obama's model for assembling a Cabinet. Goodwin wrote a book called "Team of Rivals," which details how President Abraham Lincoln brought some of his fiercest rivals and opponents into his Cabinet to govern with him. Obama has actually cited Goodwin's book, and Lincoln's example. The talk of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, and Obama's meeting scheduled for Monday with Sen.John McCain is fueling speculation that he may be trying to assemble such a governing team.

2012 Possible GOP Contenders: Power Rankings

Here is a list of possible GOP Contenders for the 2012 Republican Nomination for President. They are listed in “Power Ranked” order based on our subjective analysis of how strong the candidates would be should they decide to seek the nomination. The rankings are NOT based on how strong the candidates would be in winning in a General Election against President Obama. The rankings will be adjusted day to day as events and information warrant. Rankings do not indicate an endorsement or preference for a particular candidate. Candidates included are those who have either indicated they may run, or individuals for which there is great speculation they will run.
