Obama Considering Brandenburg Gate Speech in Berlin on Upcoming Trip

Reports are circulating that Sen. Barack Obama is considering making a "major speech" in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin during his upcoming - but still unscheduled - trip to Europe and the Middle East. Such a speech would be designed to remind Americans of the famous speeches delivered by John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan in front of the Gate that used to symbolize the division of East and West Germany during the Cold War. Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times has the details:

A German friend passed along the news Saturday that local sources in Berlin are confirming that the Obama campaign was in contact with city authorities to discuss the possibility of presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) delivering an outdoor address in front of the Brandenburg gate. The thinking is Obama would follow in the footsteps of two very famous Cold War-era speeches of U.S. presidents speaking in Germany: JFK "Ich bin ein Berliner" and Reagan "tear down this wall." It would probably be Obama's only public speech during upcoming visits to Germany, France and England on a swing to include stops in Israel and Jordan. There is still no date for the trip. German news sources are reporting the Obama team is working on a visit during the "second half of this month".

You have to give the Obama Campaign credit - they really know how to set up their candidate in optimal speech-making conditions. That is Obama's strong suit, and the more they can put him in front of huge and adoring crowds with a teleprompter the better it will be for him.

I guess it is only a political stunt when other candidates do it. Obama is an empty suit that has to make speeches because he has nothing else.

"You have to give the Obama Campaign credit"...what??? He's a one trick pony! He's like that song you've heard too much on the radio - I just turn the dial now. He's a bore.

Creepy news - Glibama is the most shameless scoundrel I've ever seen. He's not a commie, but he sure nurtures lef-wing convictions and had communism won, he sure would be among the spoilers. And now to pose in Berlin, talking sbout Cold War, freedoms and so on! Hope he quotes from Ayres, Wright and Frank. He's really something.

Is he going to bring his very own faux Presidential seal? Since he likes playing the President so much, I bet that will be a sweet place to display it. He can even give out ObamaBucks, as a sign that even the EU and Euros will be subsumed by ObamaNation.

Obama continues to demonstrate that he's not just the most egotistical pol to come along in awhile--I know: there's much competition, particularly within in the Democrat Party--but that as much as he says he represents change, he hasn't an original thought of how to even differentiate himself from the past.

Can that be because he really is a same-old-same-old pol stuck in the past?

Or can it be that he's now revealing some very troubling pathology?
